【摘要】:Thistestmethodisintendedasameansforobtainingsequentialextractsofawaste.Theextractsmaybeusedtoestimatethereleaseofcertainconstituentsofthewasteunderthelaboratoryconditionsdescribedinthistestmethod.ThepHoftheextractionfluidusedinthistestmethodistoreflectthepHofacidicprecipitationinthegeographicregioninwhichthewastebeingtestedistobedisposed.Note18212;PossiblesourcesofinformationconcerningthepHofprecipitationinthegeographicregionofinterestincludestateandfederalenvironmentalagencies,stateuniversities,libraries,etc.Note28212;Forsequentialbatchextractionofwasteusinganonacidicextractionfluid,seeTestMethodD4793.AnintentofthistestmethodisforthefinalpHofeachoftheextractstoreflecttheinteractionoftheextractantwiththebufferingcapacityofthewaste.Thistestmethodisnotintendedtoprovideextractsthatarerepresentativeoftheactualleachateproducedfromawasteinthefieldortoproduceextractstobeusedasthesolebasisofengineeringdesign.Thistestmethodhasnotbeendemonstratedtosimulateactualdisposalsiteleachingconditions.Thistestmethodproducesextractsthatareamenabletothedeterminationofbothmajorandminor(trace)constituents.Whenminorconstituentsarebeingdetermined,itisespeciallyimportantthatprecautionsbetakeninsamplestorageandhandlingtoavoidpossiblecontaminationofthesamples.Thistestmethodhasbeentestedtodetermineitsapplicabilitytocertaininorganiccomponentsinthewaste.Thistestmethodhasnotbeentestedforapplicabilitytoorganicsubstances,volatilematter(seeNote5),orbiologicallyactivesamples.Theagitationtechnique,rate,liquid-to-solidratio,andfiltrationconditionsspecifiedintheproceduremaynotbesuitableforextractingalltypesofwastes(seeSections7and8andAppendixX1).1.1Thistestmethodprovidesaprocedureforthesequentialleachingofawastecontainingatleast5%drysolidsinordertogeneratesolutionstobeusedtodeterminetheconstituentsleachedunderthespecifiedtestingconditions.1.2Thistestmethodcallsfortheshakingofaknownweightofwastewithacidicextractionfluidofaspecifiedcompositionaswellastheseparationoftheliquidphaseforanalysis.ThepHoftheextractionfluidistoreflectthepHofacidicprecipitationinthegeographicregioninwhichthewastebeingtestedistobedisposed.Theprocedureisconductedtentimesinsequenceonthesamesampleofwaste,anditgeneratestensolutions.1.3Thistestmethodisintendedtodescribetheprocedureforperformingsequentialbatchextractionsonly.Itdoesnotdescribealltypesofsamplingandanalyticalrequirementsthatmaybeassociatedwithitsapplication.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyproblems,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
